Before I ever went to NYC, a friend of a friend recommended Shopsin's and sent the New Yorker profile about the restaurant. We read this article closely and went, careful not to ask any questions. 15+ years later, I read Arbitrary Stupid Goal, a memoir about Tamara Shopsin's life, growing up in NYC in the 70's.
